Station Project

2019

2019
A public art project collaboratively created by leading contemporary artists from Korea, China, and Japan, symbolizing harmony and friendship in 21st-century Asia.

Project Background

The Station Project was conceived as a groundbreaking initiative to foster cultural exchange and collaboration among Korea, China, and Japan. For the first time in history, renowned artists from these three nations came together to jointly create a single artwork. This project aims to transcend national, political, and economic boundaries, instead focusing on the social role of art in promoting dialogue and harmony.Inspired by the concept of a “station”, this project serves as a metaphor for a place where people and time intersect, where departures and arrivals coexist, and where cultural and civilizational exchanges take place. It is a symbolic platform that reflects the continuous evolution of ideas, embodying the collective aspirations of artists to create an inclusive and interconnected artistic community across Asia.Through the Station Project, this initiative envisions a future where horizontal cultural exchanges flourish, and where contemporary artistic collaborations redefine the relationship between art and society.
This artwork was installed at the lobby of JTBC, a South Korean television network.
